Ladybird on Daisy – Ladybird Flower Garden Art Print

Ladybird on Daisy is an acrylic painting painted by Australian artist Liz Wilson in 2023, capturing the vivid beauty of a bright red ladybird resting on the white petals of a daisy. Set against a rich emerald green background, the tiny insect becomes a jewel-like focal point, celebrating the quiet wonder of garden life at miniature scale.

Inspired by moments spent observing the natural world, Liz Wilson’s nature paintings often focus on small encounters that reveal the intricate beauty of everyday ecosystems. The contrast between the delicate white petals and the bold red shell of the ladybird highlights the harmony and balance found in nature.

This artwork celebrates the joy of discovery — the moment when we pause long enough to notice the remarkable life happening in even the smallest corners of a garden.

Perfect for collectors of nature art, garden lovers, and children’s spaces, this joyful artwork brings colour, warmth, and a sense of wonder into a room.

DID YOU KNOW?

Ladybirds (often called ladybugs in North America) have been loved across cultures for centuries and are widely considered symbols of good luck and protection. Their name originated in medieval Europe when farmers prayed to the Virgin Mary to save their crops from pests. When ladybirds arrived and devoured the aphids damaging the fields, they became known as “Our Lady’s bird.”

A single ladybird can eat thousands of aphids in its lifetime, making them one of the most beneficial insects in gardens. Their bright red colour and black spots act as a natural warning to predators, signalling that they are toxic to eat.

The daisy — whose name comes from “day’s eye” because it opens with the sunrise — symbolises innocence, new beginnings, and the gentle rhythms of the natural world.
