A Bunch Of Sunshine

Available professionally framed in White, Black, Natural, Gold, or Brown timber frames, or as a Stretched Ready-to-Hang Canvas.

Textural mixed media painting with botanical elements, created in 2026. I was inspired by the joy of bringing nature's treasures indoors dried palm fronds, golden billy buttons, delicate white blooms, and rustic pinecones arranged in a simple earthenware vase. Using thick acrylic with palette knife technique and fine detail brushwork, I captured the dimensional quality of each element against a serene cornflower blue background adorned with ghostly white foliage patterns. The warm golden tones radiating from the arrangement truly embody sunshine captured in botanical form.

The art of dried flower arranging, or "everlasting bouquets," dates back to ancient Egypt, where dried flowers were placed in tombs to accompany the deceased into the afterlife. Victorians elevated this craft during the 19th century, creating elaborate dried arrangements that symbolized eternal love and remembrance. Unlike fresh flowers that fade within days, dried botanicals represent permanence, preservation of beauty, and the ability to hold onto fleeting moments. They're botanical time capsules nature's way of defying impermanence.

Palm fronds have held sacred significance across cultures for millennia, symbolizing victory, peace, and eternal life. In Christian tradition, they commemorate Palm Sunday, while ancient Romans awarded palm branches to victorious athletes and military heroes. Billy buttons (Craspedia), native Australian wildflowers, symbolize good health and optimism with their perfect spherical golden heads. Pinecones represent enlightenment, fertility, and the third eye in various spiritual traditions their spiral pattern follows the Fibonacci sequence, nature's mathematical perfection. White flowers universally symbolize purity, new beginnings, and innocence.
